A Little Anecdote from My Brother's Classroom...

A science teacher assigned her science classes a scientific project to do during the one-week winter recess.

One boy from the class decided to do this really 'creative' project.

First, he prepared 3 potted plants of the same type, labelled them A, B and C.
Then, he put A as a control plant in a controlled situation, with sunshine, water and air. B is placed in the same condition, but with ROCK music playing in the room while C is placed in, also the same condition, but with CLASSICAL music playing in the room.
He left the plants in each respective condition for 3 days.

His hypothesis: Music affects plant growth.
His results:
Plant A - As it is grown in a controlled condition, its plant growth should be the normal rate.
Plant B - ROCK music did not affect plant's growth.
Plant C - CLASSICAL music did not affect plant's growth.

In conclusion, music and its different genres does not affect plant growth. Thus, his hypothesis is rejected.

I have never, ever thought about the fact that music may change a plant's growth rate. So well, here's really one insight into the mind of a standard American kid for you :)
